Quality Veterinary Surgical Procedures
The surgical team of PawSteps Veterinary Center is able to perform a variety of surgical procedures. We provide carefully monitored care throughout each procedure and through the pet’s recovery.
Pre-Surgical Veterinary Examinations
If surgery is recommended, a pre-surgical examination is required to assess your pet’s health and ability to have surgery. Depending on your pet’s unique health condition, additional blood work or diagnostics may be necessary for our team to design a safe anesthetic regimen.
State-of-the-Art Veterinary Surgery
PawSteps Veterinary Center follows carefully designed surgical procedures to ensure each pet’s safety and comfort. To provide the best care and maintain your pet’s health, an intravenous catheter will be placed for procedures in which the pet will be anesthetized for longer than 10 minutes. The catheters are used to administer anesthetic drugs and intravenous fluids.
During surgery, our veterinarians and a trained veterinary nurse will use state-of-the-art equipment to closely monitor your pet’s vital signs, including:
- Heart rate
- Respiratory rate
- Blood oxygen levels
- Blood pressure

Post-Surgical Veterinary Care
After surgery, pets are closely monitored by the doctor and the veterinary team. Most pets are sent home the same day, but pets requiring intensive, critical care may be referred to local 24-hour critical care centers.
The veterinarians of PawSteps Veterinary Center maintain close relationships with veterinary surgical specialists in the area. For complicated surgical procedures or cases in which the pet has more than one health condition, patients can be referred to these local specialists for surgical care.
